Project KASAM with Kathmandu College of Management KCM

 

KASAM (Kalikot Sanitary Management) Project – A youth initiative for change! Sponsored by the CG Growing Service Leaders project, KASAM was an initiative undertaken by freshman of Kathmandu College of Management under the legitimacy of KCM Student Council and its Social Welfare Club. KASAM worked to improve health and sanitation in the remote village of Bali in Kalikot, by constructing sustainable double pit latrines.

Bali village, in Chappre VDC of Kalikot district is home to some 325 adults spread over 22 households. Pre KASAM, the sanitation scenariowas seen to be far below the desirable with only one usable latrine for the entire village.

KASAM, over a period of 15 days, successfully constructed 5 sustainable latrines, educated the local population on healthy sanitation habits and distributed a year’s stock of soap, toilet detergents and disinfectants.
