CG Foundation Foundation Today & Tomorrow

Foundation Today and Tomorrow

The Chaudhary Group (CG) has come a long way since our humble beginnings. Today we stand as a multi-industrial, transnational conglomerate spanning five continents. CG is now a leading entity with various companies in Finance, Banking, Insurance, Fast Moving Consumer Goods, Electronics & Home Appliances, Real Estate, Education, Energy, Education, Biotech, Cement and the Hospitality industries.

At Chaudhary Group, social responsibility is an integral part to the way we do business. To build a nation, we believe in supporting the communities in a sustainable and environmentally friendly manner. This translates into the group’s Triple Bottom Line - we strive to be socially responsible, environmentally sound and economically viable.

As we continue marching forward, shoulder to shoulder, with our stakeholders, with our dedicated fellow workers in our factories and offices and yes, with the trust of our supportive customers, we are resolved to remember always: a sustainable corporate thrives only on a sustainable planet, supported by a sustainable society.

Investing in teachers and students

The Gyan Udaya scholarship was established in 2008 to give recognition to brilliant but needy students of the Nawalparasi district graduating from High School (SLC) and to motivate them for further studies. To date, the scholarship has supported 350 students. Community school teachers contributing to help students excel were honored by CG CSR in 2010 and 2011.

Infrastructure Development

To impart the means through which every child can realize their full potential, CG, as a major contributor supported the construction of the school’s infrastructure and nurtured the school’s curriculum, teaching and learning processes. CG has also committed to financially support 10 community schools in Nawalparasi.

Internet networking for community schools

Inspired by the spirit of true social inclusion, CG CSR has been actively supporting the availability of Internet learning & research for students in rural Nepal. With technical knowhow from Mr. Mahabir Pun, an expert in networking in rural areas, wireless connectivity and internet facilities are now available for 6 community schools in the hilly areas of Nawalparasi.

MICRO-ENTERPRISE BUILDING

CG Polytechnic: We established CG Polytechnic, a vocational training program in mechanical fittings, in collaboration with Manmohan Memorial Polytechnic to help people learn skills through which they can find employment.

Skill Development Programs: Through the CTEVT, we conducted skill development programs in the Chaudhary Udyog Gram, Nawalparasi. The program has been going on for the last three years and over 250 students received CTEVT training.

Support for Women and Youth: In association with Kaligandaki Cooperative in Kawasoti, we arranged training programs for rural women, empowering them with basic accounting and management skills. Through the same cooperative, CG organized a Youth Self-Employment Program by facilitating soft loans. It supported the Women’s Welfare Multiple Co-operative, a cooperative providing self-employment and income generation trainings to Dalit and Mushahar women.

Enterprise Promotion: To promote enterprises, CG mobilized local farmers to produce potato, turmeric and Aloevera by providing the appropriate seeds, technical consultancy and loans through a self-employment program.

Hamro Ghar: CG has provided financial support to Hamro Ghar, an organization dedicated for rehabilitation of street children. The organization is currently taking care of 14 street children and has admitted them into different schools.

Energetic Nepali, Prosperous Nepal

The CG Foundation believes that sports can bridge socioeconomic gaps and can improve individual lives. Sports provide a unique way towards physical and mental fitness, developing leadership skills, a sense of fair competition, enhanced self-esteem, and an appreciation of team spirit and teamwork. It can animate a community and bring them together, serving as a catalyst for social and economic progress.
